An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Engagement Officer to join Compton Hospice to support the development of Compassionate Communities across Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire. This new role will be responsible for developing and strengthening our links with a range of community groups and partner organisations, to help improve lives and raise awareness of dying, death and bereavement. The role requires a good understanding of community engagement and development along with sound knowledge of the voluntary and community sector. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of working closely with communities and partner organisations and have a passion for supporting those with end of life and incurable conditions. The successful candidate will have a flexible approach to community engagement work. Occasional evening and weekend working will be required, and a car and current UK driving licence is essential. Essential qualifications and experience: Good quality secondary education/adult education Experience of undertaking Community Development/engagement work Strong networking and collaborative working skills Experience of working with and within community settings Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking and media presentation Ability to plan and prioritise work, manage time and organise workload effectively Ability to inspire and motivate others Confidence, adaptability and resilience - must be able to work alone, as well as in close collaboration.
