Regional Sales Manager - Packaging Machinery

GENERAL PURPOSE

To grow Hayssen Flexible Systems Horizontal New Machinery business within the defined territory. Responsible for developing and implementing business strategies that will continue to expand the client base within the region. The Regional Sales Manager must create and implement both long and short term sales objectives and strategies that will meet the needs of the customer, increase market share, increase machinery orders and maximise product servicing. This is accomplished by working within the global matrix corporate structure of Hayssen Flexible Systems, the wider Barry-Wehmiller and our customers in the region.

Actively engages in our Lean journey by seeking, encouraging and acting on continuous improvement and developmental opportunities. Acts as a self-service coach to help team members learn, grow and help themselves when the opportunities present themselves. Works as part of the engineering team in align with the Guiding Principles of Leadership, Living legacy of leadership and Our Vision of Service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Grow the market footprint of the complete range of the Horizontal platform machines and systems within the UK and predominately the South of UK.
- Secure new machinery orders for Hayssen Flexible Systems horizontal flow wrapping and systems solutions.
- Work closely with VFFS sales team to identify and capitalize on cross selling opportunities to foster overall territory growth.
- Foster business expansion strategies that investigate the markets and applications that we are currently not pursuing or fully engaged with but are within the core competencies of the company.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the existing customer base within the territory to maximise repeat order opportunities.
- Network and conduct regular market research to identify market opportunities and competitive activity to help shape company and market priorities.
- Develop and manage a clearly defined annual Sales & Marketing Plan and submit quarterly updates and recommendations to the sales leadership team.
- Maintain a sales pipeline for the territory, communicating regularly with industry partners to understand project activity and new opportunities. Review the sales pipeline with the leadership monthly.
- Effectively make recommendations concerning market trends, competitive products and pricing
- Keep abreast of competitive and customer activity along with customer needs, and communicate information to the appropriate individuals within the company, so strategic decisions can be made to increase the company's competitive edge in the marketplace
- Develop and demonstrate a working knowledge of the relevant finance mechanisms for conducting business in the region.
- Mine for regional, client and industry information, analyze industry and client specific data and create and execute account specific strategies and tactics.
- Identify, develop and maintain strong relationships with OEM suppliers, complimentary equipment suppliers, integrators, agents and allied sales professionals leading to increased sales.
- Support and actively utilize CRM software to maintain accurate records of all contacts, activity reports, opportunities and competitive information for customers and prospects
- Provide detailed information regarding customer requirements, specifications, applications, etc. so accurate and timely sales proposals are produced for the customer when requested
- Promote the availability of company services (such as spare parts, training and field service) along with capabilities in other areas of the Barry-Wehmiller companies to customers to increase sales
- Coordinates availability of engineering services to meet customer requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION :

- Degree and/or significant proven industry experience
- Engineering bias will be an advantage

EXPERIENCE:

- Minimum of five years of business to business sales experience based on solution selling skills with capital machinery, ideally within the packaging machinery sector

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

- Solid knowledge of and experience with various types of packaging machinery and systems used in all food and consumer packaged goods industries
- Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
- Self-motivated to work alone from a home base and yet be a team player within the matrix corporate structure
- Have the gravitas to be accepted at board level of large organizations combined with the humility to develop good relationships within the operational areas of small enterprises
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain and build customer relationships
- Conducts oneself in a professional and customer centric fashion
- Goal oriented and driven to become an impactful contributor to the business
- Excellent negotiator with the ability to persuasively articulate a value offering
- Strong electrical/mechanical aptitude pertaining to machine applications

- Ability to travel extensively throughout designated territory
