Purpose of the role:
Experian?? Decision Analytics (DA) integrates predictive data and analytics into valuable business decisions that provide greater insight into decision performance and helps companies keep pace with changing business priorities, by applying expert consulting, analytical tools, software and systems to convert data into valuable business decisions.
Our expertise spans a variety of industries and we provide software to some of the world's largest finance, telcos and other blue-chip companies. The crown jewel in our software suite is PowerCurve which provides best-in-class decisioning applied across the whole customer life-cycle from customer acquisition to in-life and collections.
We are developing a new market opportunity to target tier 2 and tier 3 companies with their products using a SaaS model. To that end, a pipeline from development to delivery needs to be created and supported that will provide a Continuous Delivery platform to roll out new features, upgrades and security patches to SaaS customers in a predictable, repeatable and timely fashion.
This is a high impact role, where the right candidate has an opportunity to work with some of the most exciting and emerging technologies in the Platform Engineering and DevOps space. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work and support driving our products forward, as well as be part of a wider team that is driving a platform approach.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud architecture and software development pipelines, and understands how software is constructed, assembled, tested, deployed, supported and monitored. They will provide technical expertise in how software is Continuously Delivered, how we build intelligence into our automated operational toolset (enhanced ChatOps) and provide support and advice to the software development and testing teams. We are looking for that right person that will become part of an agile, high performing development team.

Role Dimensions:
Primary Accountabilities:
  • Facilitate and contribute to solution design sessions.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to understand the software requirements.
  • Support the production of accurate estimates for development work.
  • Promote best practice development within the team.
  • Participate in the team's analysis of complex problems.
  • Self-manage to plan and organise your time so that all work is completed satisfactorily and meets agreed deadlines.
  • Possesses the ability to explain complex solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop specifications for existing and new stages in the delivery pipelines.
  • Analyse and fix errors in the pipelines.
  • Implement standards for system health, metrics collection, reporting and monitoring solutions.
  • Implement bots & AI to augment our operational toolset
  • Enforce standards for securing the SaaS environment.
  • Maintain and improve existing system documentation.
  • Support & deputise for Technical Product Manager

Significant Demands:
  • Strong background in cloud and enterprise technology.
  • Hands on approach to ensure successful delivery.
  • Hands on experience implementing bots & applying AI technology in DevOps domain (such as anomaly detection and causal correlation analysis in live log streams)

Working Practices and Relationships:
  • Engages with developers, testers, build engineers, operations and stakeholders to support with all work requirements.
  • Works as part of an agile team and communicates daily progress.
  • Engages with the DevOps community.
  • Communicates with scrum master and development leads.

Personal Requirements
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Broad/Proven work experience in DevOps with exposure to software development.
  • Practical experience of using agile development methodologies.

Technologies, Languages, frameworks
Experience and exposure to as many of the following as possible:
  • Networking/Firewalls, experience is a pre-requisite.
  • Data layer technologies (e.g. Postgresql / Kafka / InfluxDB / Grafana / ELK Stack), experience is a pre-requisite.
  • Proven experience delivering large, complex, high quality software delivery pipelines.
  • Broad experience of CI tools (e.g. Jenkins).
  • Proven understanding and experience using cloud technologies, particularly AWS.
  • Proven knowledge of cloud automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Packer and Ansible
  • Proven experience of Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift
  • Knowledge of token authentication systems e.g. JWT, SAML.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration, Delivery and Build Automation processes.
  • Good knowledge of Groovy and golang or similar to script solutions (especially in OpenShift).
  • Good knowledge of bot & AI technologies (DevOps Machine Learning tools such as X-Pack, Sumo Logic, CNTK, Mahout, NuPIC, Kapacitor, Influxdb, AWS Kinesis Analytics and AWS Machine Learning, ChatOps platforms such as and Slack and ChatOps Bots such as Errbot and Hubot)
  • Experience with plugin development for Rocket.Chat and User Defined functions for kapacitor
  • Knowledge of Experian products desirable.
