Principal Powertrain Engineer required for an exciting opportunity within the Powertrain Planning and Integration field.

Our Client is currently recruiting for a Senior or Principal Engineer with proven experience in Powertrain Attributes Planning & Integration. This is an exciting career opportunity to work within a World Leading Powertrain R&D Centre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Enhance and refine the existing group powertrain cycle plan through strategic analysis and simulation to identify and justify the application of key powertrain technologies.
Powertrain attribute target setting and integration through product planning and strategy phases of product or technology development programmes.
Collaborate with Engine, Transmission, New Energy and Powertrain Controls Departments to co-ordinate and inform the powertrain planning and attribute simulation capability development.
Conduct research and studies in both conventional Powertrain and Hybrid Powertrain.
Carry out research into Governmental laws and regulations.

Personal Specification:

10 years powertrain R&D related experience gained from working in automotive OEMs and /or supplier base
An excellent understanding of the physics related to energy conversion and transmission in conventional and electrified powertrains.
A good working knowledge of modern and future powertrain technologies and their impact on performance, efficiency, drive quality and other attributes.
A thorough understanding of powertrain attribute development processes, including knowledge of Powertrain legislation and other standardised test procedures.
An excellent understanding of general automotive industry development processes from fundamental research, advanced engineering to product development.
Experience in Powertrain Matching and using state of the art simulation tools including Mathworks & Gamma Technologies Tools would be preferable.

Other Features of Job:

Primary location will be at Birmingham Business Park
Travel may be required but depends on project requirement
