SF Group are currently recruiting for a Technical Assistant - BIM reporting to Head of Innovation, This position provides a Building Information modelling (BIM) service to the company and to it's external customer base. As the Technical Assistant - BIM you will have a good standard of technical awareness of both general construction along with current BIM working practice and the ability to use AutoCAD. The position of the Technical Assistant - BIM will also require the creation and maintenance of an internal library of all BIM 3D objects and product data template files, in conjunction with industry adopted standards, in addition to the liaison with external 3rd party BIM technical library providers to promote the range of company products to the widest external audience. Regular liaison and coordination with technical members from all the business units will be required. Responsibilities: - Undertake general CAD work using AutoCAD together with 3D BIM work using Revit software platforms, for products produced by the Group - Assist with the compilation of a new internal library of all 3D objects and product data template files, in conjunction with industry - Assist with modelling/detailing/scheduling/cost estimating as required by the Head of Innovation, based upon the company's total portfolio of products and support all BIM project coordination with customers - Assist with BIM work required by the Commercial landscaping/Building products technical teams and provide on-site BIM advice to these team members within the office - Assist with the liaison of 3rd party external BIM product library providers - Building Library etc, to ensure maximum visibility to our UK customer sectors - Liaise with Group (LH) BIM teams in Europe to ensure total coordination and parity of BIM service across the Group - Set up and manage an internal database of all BIM customer engagement/downloads/project specific work undertaken, to allow the business to monitor all BIM object downloads by customers - Assist with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations to promote BIM for both internal and external use, as directed by the Head of Innovation Person Specification: - 24 months minimum experience working with AutoCAD 2d and 3D and minimum 12 months minimum experience working with Autodesk Revit is required, both obtained within a professional office environment. Experience of Autodesk Revit 2017 edition would be an advantage - Intermediate level of computer literacy is required including experience of Excel spreadsheets and word processing - A basic understanding of general building construction and detailing is required along with a suitable technical qualification (Minimum BTEC etc.) - Ability to work well with others, undertake deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities - Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and monitor projects through to completion - An understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work and how it interacts with BIM - Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with external bodies, external customers and employees at all levels across the organisation - Able to build and maintain relationships - Good written and verbal communication skills - Good attention to detail - Ability to work well under pressure - Forward thinking - able to think through implications - Desire to learn and take on new responsibilities In return you will work Monday - Friday 08:30-17:00 and be paid up to £30,000.
