Big Data Analyst Salary: Competitive & Excellent Benefits Location: NG16 3AG Type: Permanent Big Data Analyst We are looking for a proven Big Data Analyst to join our Research and Data Science team in our on-going expansion of Microlise. A key part of your role will be performing exploratory, analytical and experimental works. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, keen to learn and is able to complete the analysis, design and build of data models, data visualisation, analytical models and business and personal insights using big data. Key responsibilities - Performing exploratory and analytical works - Interpreting data and analysing results using statistical techniques - Creating data dashboards, graphs and visualisation - Identifying, analysing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets - Carrying out data validation and cleansing - Preparing technical and scientific reports and presentations - Framing business problems into questions that can be answered through data analysis, - Translating business needs into requirements that can be understood by technical teams Essential requirements; BSc degree in quantitative discipline like Statistics, Computer Science, Operational Research, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline Good knowledge of statistical analysis, analytics, problem solving and predictive modelling At least one year experience in (big) data analysis area Experience of analytical tools such as R and Tableau Demonstrate good knowledge of MS Excel and SQL Demonstrate good knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes Demonstrate knowledge of database design principles Knowledge of analysis and development of data structures. Strong reporting and communication skills whilst working on a number of tasks and projects at the same time. Enjoying discovering and solving problems Build collaborative partnerships with key individuals across the organization Be adaptable and flexible to respond to the changing needs of a dynamic business Embrace challenge and be passionate about solving hard problems Collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams Desirable; MSc/PhD degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Operational Research, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline Knowledge of at least one programming language such as C++, C#, Java or Python Experience in working with large data sets (multi-gigabytes) Experience in computing and data science Experience in big data technologies Experience in Hadoop, MongoDB, Spark etc Knowledge of vehicle telematics systems and transport logistics Why Microlise?
