Take a look at our YouTube video to see more about DIO: The Electrical Team provides an engineering framework for the design, construction, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure including aeronautical ground lighting systems (AGL). This involves the provision of intelligent customer advice to the Authority and safety assurance functions to ensure MOD discharges its responsibilities and duties under the HASW Act 1974. On-going work includes: the provision of technical support to several high voltage distribution projects in the UK and overseas; the introduction of Demand Side Response across the estate; and the assurance of MOD's Safe Systems of Work for electrical systems. The post also has a Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £3,000 per annum on top of the basic salary. THE ROLE You will be part of a small but diverse team of specialists covering the MoD's mechanical, fuel and gas infrastructure. You can expect to provide technical support to project teams designing and constructing new builds and to DIO's industry partners maintaining the estate's infrastructure and facilities. As Senior Mechanical Engineer and carrying out the role of Deputy Senior Authorising Authority (DSAA) you will support the Principal Mechanical Engineer with the implementation of the Mechanical safe system of work including the development of the safety rules and procedures and undertaking assurance activities. You will also provide the development and maintenance of technical documentation, policy and the provision of technical support to customers. You will use your professional judgement in providing best practise advice and technical support as subject matter expert to client departments including prime contracts, PPPs and PFI projects. You will have demonstrable knowledge and proven experience, throughout the system lifecycle of Mechanical Infrastructure and Systems including but not limited to: Steam, High Temperature Hot Water (HTHW). Medium Temperature Hot Water (MTHW) Boilers and their distribution system, Compressed Air Systems, Dental Air Vacuum Systems. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS - A degree (or an equivalent qualification) in mechanical engineering or equivalent subject matter. - Chartered or Incorporated Mechanical Engineer. - Full UK Driving License DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS - It is desirable that you will have a good working knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Overseas travel and travel to remote UK locations maybe required.
