Overview of the role:

Working as part of an inspirational Science department, you will play an integral role in the support of pupils within Science from Year 7 up to Year 11. You will work alongside exceptional science teachers within an outstanding science department. This role is ideal for an ambitious Science graduate from any scientific discipline to apply today for your role as a learning mentor in order to build experience before you enrol on a teacher training course the following year.

This role is ideal for a Science graduate who has experience working with young people, either in a school-setting or as part of volunteering activities. The most important thing is that you are a graduate with a passion to support pupils to achieve their goals!

Learning Mentor - Science Graduate - Person Specification:

As an excellent communicator you will be liaising efficiently with parents/carers, colleagues and students both verbally and in writing. A good level of literacy and numeracy is required in order to fully support students across the curriculum and within the science department. You should be a highly academic individual who works well as part of a team, offering ideas and suggesting ways to support the learners within science to the highest potential. The ideal candidate should be confident, engaging and resilient as these skills will all be required throughout the academic year in your role as a learning mentor

Learning Mentor - Science Graduate - Roles & Responsibilities:

In this role you will work closely with the science department where there is a young and cohesive group of outstanding practitioners who will support you in your new learning mentor role. On a day to day basis you will support the teachers within the science department by leading science interventions on a one to one and group basis for those pupils who may be underachieving, whether that be those on C/D borderline or A*/A. You will also be expected to run small group sessions for disadvantaged pupils in order to give them as much support as possible in order for them to reach their potential.
