NPD Design Engineer

Location: Wednsebury, Walsall, West Midlands, Wolverhampton,

Salary: Negotiable

The Client:

A major manufacturer within the Oil & Gas sector (also supplying other industries)

The Role:

•Develop products identified as priorities by Market & Product Management for all product categories and facilitate and acquire the necessary product approvals where applicable.
•High level of conceptual involvement including extensive use of hand calculations and FEA.
•Liaise with customers via Product Management to establish accurate voice of the customer (VOC) data.
•Liaise and work with technical personnel from the relevant Centre of Excellence.
•Generate initial costing and schedule information to create relevant expenditure forecasts.
•Deliver technical design/development objectives within required deadlines and cost targets.
•Component and assembly design from concept to production.
•Carry out assigned design tasks on time, to the required quality and within budget.
•Responsible for control of tasks, including spend and identifying need for budget/contract revisions.
•Management of prototype testing process, including creation of test procedures, test schedules, results and report writing.
•Maintain NPD appropriate records in accordance with company NPD procedures.
•Generate handover procedures including product technical file, BOM's, part numbering structures, product manuals, etc.
•Work with the Centre of Excellence team to ensure smooth handover of products into production.
•Ensure all HSSEQ rules and regulations are communicated and enforced throughout the Organization. Proactively participate to safety awareness and improvement.
•To represent the company in a professional manner at all times, both internally and externally. To follow the published processes and comply with all company policies and procedures. Be an ambassador for the businesses in particular ensure that Health & Safety comes first at all times.

Required Skills & Experience:

•Degree/HNC in mechanical engineering or suitable engineering qualification with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a similar position.
•Strong presentation skills.
•Interpersonal, planning/organizing, analytical and influencing talent required.
•Proficient in of use Pro/Engineer computer aided design software or similar package.
•Working knowledge of AutoCAD or ExpertCAD 2D drafting software preferred.
•Working knowledge of structural analysis using first principles and FEA packages (Pro/Mechanica / Ansys).
•Working knowledge of PDM systems, Windchill / PDM-Link preferred.
•Working knowledge of ERP systems, Oracle preferred.
•Proficient with MS office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.
